It is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Na2SO3. It is a light yellow in appearance which is a water-soluble solid. it is used commercially as an antioxidant and preservative as well. It reacts with and eliminates dissolved oxygen as a possible source of corrosion in drilling mud systems.
